Music submission for the LAC Karlsruhe 27-30 April

LAC (Linux Audio Conference) in Karlsruhe, April 27.-30. 2006, ZKM,[1]

A live experiment with some JackLab releated musicans

Our project is open for various new constellations. This picture showing the group in Los Llanos, La Palma in Dec 2004. For the Linux Sound Night and the JackLabDemo only Michael, Wilken and Sören will be present.

Short description of the project

Sometimes we think we have a name for this project - maybe "Los Hermanos de Don Alfredo" is a good name - but who cares... We make some "groove salad", serious pop, avantgarde and soundscapes. Improvised compositions are taking snapshots of the moment. We also work with some arrangments, that we will compose online special for this project. The cast of this project are experiend musicans playing over the years in regional projects and bands. We are working live with openSUSE JAD in our musical context, realtime for sound creation and amp simulation. The background of this project is the circumstance that we meet for making music together in the small flat from Sören in the center of Bremen. So we started to find a new way of making music together - and with a DAW as a central multiinstrument. Michaels engagment for an audiolinux let the project begin to work with openSUSE JAD instead of Windows/Mac DAWs, as an artistically concept of limitation.

Technical setup:

- small club PA incl. 8 chan mixer

Our human/technical setup:

- AudioDAW, Notebooks

- Some microphones and instruments (guitar, bass, keyboards)

- 3-4 musicans

Circulum Vitae

Some reference compositions

Realized with a hetrogenic network of linux and windows DAWs, postproduction with linux. Please take a note: our compositions are mostly spontanous and improvised. It is not our aim, to play the same snapshot again and again, so the music can be variable -depends on the moment, the inspiration, the feeling.
